This evaluation is not what I expected it to be.  Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the project has had to be stopped for the moment.  One full day of filming was completed before lockdown and I have managed to edit that day's filming down a bit but need to film in two other locations and use college equipment to complete editing and finalise the soundtrack.

From the footage which I do already have, I feel this footage does give an effective feel of how the film would have turned out.  I hope to finish the film at some point but it will be difficult as the actor may not b3e available or look the same and the crew may not be available.

I intended to colour grade the footage and correct the audio which currently has a lot of disruptive wind sound.  I would have also added a full sound track and other sound effects when needed, to add to the uncomfortable atmosphere which I wanted to create.

Obviously this is not the final film but I feel that fro my research and preparation, I did manage to capture the message which I wanted the film to portray which was the viewer following a boy who slowly discovers the uncomfortable truth that he is alone in the world.  The footage which I have put together as a little taster as I was unable to finish the film, does create the atmosphere which I wanted and I am pleased about this although frustrated that the full vision in my head has not been completed.

From the very start of the process, I had this vision in my head of the finished film and how I would create this interesting and unusual feel to it.  This would have been achieved by the movement of the camera following Lucas as it takes the viewer with him to create the impression of following him.  This was inspired by other films using this effect eg in the recent 1917 film, where the camera never left the 2 characters while they go on a journey. This is exactly what I wanted to achieve with the cameraman following the actor at all times.  I am pleased that even from just one day of filming, I managed to capture this effect which I would have used throughout the whole film, had I been able to complete it.

 

Overall I feel that I was fortunate in a way that I was ahead with the filming and managed this crucial day which has provided me with a lot of useful experience and insight and the lockdown, although frustrating, has actually given me time to reflect on this.
